Dropped $45 on a Park Tool chain checker and my $12 ruler does the same thing
Bought the CC-4 at a shop in Portland last month because the guy behind the counter swore it was worth it. Used it twice, realized a plain ruler and a 12 inch section of chain tells me the same 0.5 percent wear number. Now it just sits in my tool roll taking up space next to the tire levers. Anyone actually get use out of the pin depth side or did I just buy a $45 paperweight?
Did you actually measure a stretched chain with the ruler and compare the two side by side, or just eyeball it? The pin depth side is for checking chainring wear, which the ruler can't do at all.
