Guy at my local shop said my chain was 'drier than a popcorn fart' and honestly he was not wrong
Stopped by the shop on 5th street a couple weeks back to grab some new bar tape and the older mechanic glanced at my chain and just goes 'that thing is drier than a popcorn fart.' I laughed it off but then he spun my cranks and it made this awful crunchy clicking noise I had somehow tuned out for months. Turned out I had been wiping the chain down with a dry rag every few rides, thinking I was cleaning it, but I was actually just stripping off whatever lube was left. Bought a $9 bottle of chain lube and spent maybe 15 minutes doing it right, one drop per roller, let it sit, wipe the extra. The clicking is gone and my shifts feel way less clunky on the big ring. Anyone else guilty of the dry rag thing, or was I the only one out here slowly killing a chain?
