I think greasing pedal threads is a bad idea
Been fixing my own bikes for about 8 years now, mostly old mountain bikes I find on Craigslist. Every forum post and YouTube video says to grease pedal threads before installing them. But last summer I had a set of pedals on my 1997 Trek that I greased up nice, torqued to spec, rode for maybe 400 miles, and then they started backing out on their own. Never had that happen on any bike where I installed them dry. What gives? Maybe grease just lets them wiggle loose over time? Has anyone else had pedals come loose after greasing?
