Just crossed 1,000 miles on my commuter bike and the odometer broke!

I was biking home from work on Tuesday and my little Cateye computer hit exactly 1,000 miles since I installed it in March. Then the screen just went blank! Kind of funny timing, like it retired after hitting its goal. Has anyone else had a bike computer crap out right at a big number?

Respectfully, I think it just gave up at a nice round number, not some magical timing.

You mentioned "a nice round number" and I get the appeal of that idea... but I think there's more to it than just picking a clean cutoff. The thing is, most of these older systems don't actually operate on a set number like that. They're built with gradual failure points, not a hard stop at an even count... so calling it a round number feels too simple. It's more likely the system hit a limit it couldn't work around, and that limit just happened to look tidy afterward. Kind of like how a car doesn't quit exactly at 100,000 miles, you know?
