TIL synthetic brake pads beat organic in the rain, not what everyone told me

I swapped to organic pads on my commuter in Seattle last month because the shop said they'd be quieter. First wet ride down Beacon Hill I had zero bite at the first light, nearly slid into the crosswalk. After 3 sketchy stops I threw the cheap Shimano resin ones out and put in a $28 set of semimetallic Kevlar pads. Has anyone else had organic pads just fail hard in Pacific Northwest drizzle, or did I get a bad batch?
