Pro tip: Don't waste $40 on that 'fast-growing' weeping willow mutant

I paid $40 plus shipping for this 'curly willow mutation' starter kit from a weirdo seed site last spring. They promised it would grow into a twisted, contorted tree that looked like a Dr. Seuss drawing by summer. Well, it grew like crazy alright, but it took over my whole garden bed by July and started strangling my tomato cages. I spent three weekends digging out the roots and it still pops up in my lawn every time it rains. Has anyone else fallen for those mutation seed packs or am I the only sucker here?

Bought into a "blue rose" seed pack from some sketchy site last year. Paid $35 for "genetically engineered flowers" that were supposed to glow under blacklight. What I got was basically morning glory seeds, and they exploded across my fence so fast my neighbor thought I was growing invasive kudzu on purpose. Took me two months and a bottle of Roundup to kill it all. Did your willow at least look cool while it was wrecking your garden? Mine just looked like regular weeds with a slight blue tint if you squinted hard enough. These seed scam artists really know how to hit you with the gardening equivalent of a Ponzi scheme.
