Question about using old garden hoses for scarecrow arms
I tried making a scarecrow last week and used a cheap plastic hose for the arms. It bent in the sun and now the scarecrow looks like it's waving at everything. I see people on here always using old hoses for limbs, but do they actually last? I'm in Phoenix so the UV probably makes it worse. Has anyone tried wrapping them in something or using a different way to keep them straight?

Last summer I used an old garden hose for arms too, and it drooped by August. I ended up stuffing a piece of rebar through the middle of the hose, keeps it stiff no matter how hot it gets. In Phoenix you probably need that extra support, the sun will melt anything plastic eventually.
