The neighbor's comment about my gourd tower finally clicked
Been building this 6 foot tower of interlocking gourds for about a year now, mostly as a joke. Last week a neighbor walked by and said it looked like a 'vegetable ziggurat from a fever dream.' I laughed, but then I realized they were right. That comment made me see the whole thing differently, instead of a weird collection, it's actually a sculpture with structure. Added two more tiers and painted some of the gourds with glow in the dark stripes. Has anyone else had a random comment completely change how they view their garden project?

Wait, are you really trying to say some random comment from a neighbor turned your gourd pile into art? Look, I get it, the glow in the dark stripes sound kinda fun, but a ziggurat is just a fancy word for a stack of stuff. You had a tower of gourds before, and you have a tower of gourds now. The only thing that changed is you started taking yourself too seriously. I'm not saying tear it down, but maybe step back and ask if you're building this for the joke or for the approval of the person who made the comment. A year of work and one offhand remark has you adding tiers and painting stuff, that feels less like a new vision and more like you just wanted someone to call it something cool. Enjoy the stripes, but don't kid yourself into thinking you unlocked some deep meaning from a drive-by comment.
