Warning: don't try to graft a tomato onto a potato plant unless you want a mess

I tried that 'TomTato' graft last spring and ended up with a weird lumpy tuber that smelled like old socks and a tomato plant that grew sideways into my fence. Has anyone else had a graft go completely haywire on them?

Tried grafting a lemon branch onto an orange tree once and got some kind of citrus monster that tasted like a sour orange with zero sweetness. The whole tree got confused and stopped producing fruit for two years straight. Did you at least get any weird hybrid fruit worth eating from your mess?

Three years ago my neighbor grafted a plum onto an apricot and we got this weird fruit that was half sweet half tart. @chen.luna I actually liked it more than plain apricots since it had more flavor. Maybe your tree just needed more time to figure itself out.
