EVA foam vs craft foam for helmet details - definitely not equal

So I spent last weekend building a Mandalorian helmet and tried using cheap craft foam for the raised panels. Big mistake. The craft foam just didn't hold its shape after heat sealing and it warped when I painted it. Switched to 5mm EVA foam for the same parts and it came out so clean. The EVA kept every curve perfect after heat forming and took the plastidip way better. If you're doing armor details just skip the craft foam and go with EVA, saves you from redoing everything later. Anyone else run into this issue with foam types?

Wait, you actually heat sealed craft foam?

Does it actually hold up or just melt into a sad little puddle?
