Hot take: Is Worbla actually worth the hype or is foam the real MVP for armor?

I spent $60 on a sheet of Worbla for a chest plate last month and it was a nightmare to heat evenly, but my foam helmet from a year ago still holds shape perfectly so idk which side is actually better for beginners like me who keep messing up thermoplastics?

Oh man I feel you SO HARD on the Worbla nightmare. I tried it for a bracer once and it was like wrestling with a melted plastic monster that burned my fingers, meanwhile my foam pauldron from a con three years ago is still sitting pretty on my shelf with zero issues. The price difference is just insulting too, like I could make four foam projects for what one Worbla sheet costs. Honestly for beginners who don't have a heat gun PhD, foam is the REAL MVP without question.

Wait, have I been sleeping on foam this whole time? I used to be a Worbla loyalist for years, thought it was the only way to get that clean look. But damn @ruby_murphy, you just made me realize I've been wasting money and patience. I spent like six hours trying to heat-form a Worbla gauntlet last month and it still came out lumpy, while my buddy knocked out a foam chest piece in an afternoon with just a heat gun and a dremel. The price thing is wild too - I could've made a whole set of armor pieces for what I dropped on that one Worbla sheet that ended up warped anyway. You've officially converted me, foam is the move for sure.
