Hot take: pepakura became an excuse to skip learning actual shaping
I've been making helmets since 2015 and I keep seeing people rely entirely on paper files instead of learning to build from scratch. Last week at a con I watched a guy spend 30 minutes fixing a pep model that would've taken 10 with foam and a heat gun. Has anyone else noticed newer builders skipping the fundamentals because templates are too easy to find?

Pep files teach you assembly, not shaping. Foam forces you to learn curves by eye.
