Hot take: the guy at Hobby Lobby in Reno told me foam floor mats are a waste of cash
I was standing in line at the Hobby Lobby on Mae Anne Ave in Reno last Saturday buying 6 packs of those interlocking foam mats for a chest plate build, and the guy behind me said I was burning money because they dent under EVA glue. Tried a scrap test at home and sure enough, the heat gun warp left a weird ripple in the third layer. Now I'm out $14 and wondering if I should just order thicker foam online. Has anyone found a cheap mat that holds up to shaping without getting that squishy look?

Tried those mats too and got the same ripple, but thicker online foam fixed it for me.
