I finally stopped using hot glue for foam armor after a con disaster

Used to think hot glue was fine for all my EVA foam builds. After wearing a chest piece for 3 hours at a con in June, the seams just gave out and the front piece dropped right onto the floor. Switched to contact cement and never looked back. The bond is way stronger and it flexes with the foam instead of cracking. Cost me $12 for a big can at the hardware store that lasted through 4 builds. Anyone else have a hot glue failure story at a bad time?

Switched to contact cement myself after my shin guards literally slid off my legs mid-walk through the dealer room. That hot glue just doesn't hold up to movement or heat. The hardware store stuff is way cheaper in the long run and you don't have to worry about seams snapping at the worst possible moment.

@gavinh26 did you have to prep the foam or plastic differently for the contact cement to actually stick?
