Last week I learned the hard way that EVA foam can melt in a hot car
I left a half-finished helmet in my trunk during a 90 degree day. Came back from work and the thing was warped into a wavy mess. The contact cement had also re-activated in spots and made everything sticky. I had to scrap 15 hours of work. If you're working with foam this summer, bring your props inside or at least put them in a cooler. Has anyone else ruined a project from heat exposure?

Bruh that sucks so bad. I left a foam sword in my car last summer and it turned into a spaghetti noodle, the heat made it droop in like 4 different directions. Now I always keep unfinished builds in my house even if it's just for a quick errand.

Gotta say though the contact cement re-activating is actually kinda normal for heat, it's not a failure of the foam itself. That stuff gets soft and gooey when it's hot, so the melting issue is more about the adhesive than the EVA. Foam can definitely warp though, I had a build do the same thing last summer and learned the hard way too. Keeping things inside is the move for sure, even a short stop at the store can mess up hours of work if the sun is beating down.
