Old school plaster casting still beats the new foam kits for me

I dug out my mom's 1980s plaster bandage method for a helmet last weekend and it took half the time of the EVA foam kit I used back in March. The shape just holds better and it didn't fight me on every curve. Anyone else gone back to the older techniques after getting frustrated with the modern stuff?
