The guy at Joann told me to seal my foam sword with Mod Podge and it cracked on day one
So last month I was building a foam sword for my nephew's Link costume. The lady cutting fabric at the Joann in Tulsa told me to skip the heat gun and just coat the foam in Mod Podge before painting. Said she'd done it for her kid's stuff. Two coats, dried overnight, looked fine. Then my nephew swung it at a couch cushion and the whole thing cracked down the middle like old paint. Took me 4 more days to redo it with plasti dip. Turns out Mod Podge dries stiff and foam needs to flex. Has anyone else gotten bad advice from a craft store employee? Or is there a sealer that actually works on the cheap EVA mats from Walmart?
