Vent: My EVA foam chest plate cracked right at the convention...

I was at Denver Comic Con last Saturday, wearing my Mandalorian armor I spent 3 months on. Then I bent down to pick up a pin I dropped and heard this horrible snap. The whole chest plate split right down the middle because I used old contact cement that had dried out a bit. I spent the rest of the day with duct tape holding it together. Has anyone else had a prop fail at the worst possible moment like that?

See, I've gotta push back on the "bad luck" angle here. You said yourself you knew the contact cement was dried out before you even put the thing together. That's not a prop malfunction, that's a choice. Three months of work and you skipped the most basic step of checking your adhesive? Sounds like you were rushing to finish and cut corners. I mean, did you really think old dried glue was gonna hold up under stress at a crowded con?

See this everywhere people grabbing the old half used glue off the shelf just because it's there.
