Visited a comic con last weekend and saw 3 people with LED-lit armor that literally looked factory made

I walked past a booth at the Anaheim Convention Center where a guy had built a full Iron Man suit with individually wired LEDs and honestly it blew my mind how clean the wiring was hidden under the foam panels, has anyone else tried embedding flexible LED strips into EVA foam without it looking bulky?

Is it really that deep though? I mean yeah, good wiring is nice but people act like these builds are space shuttle tech when it's basically a soldering iron and some patience. I've seen cosplayers with flimsy dollar store lights held together with zip ties that get way more attention than some perfectly molded resin armor. Plus those LED suits are a pain to move around in and the batteries die halfway through the day. There's a difference between looking "factory made" and looking like you stepped out of a car commercial.

You know that line about looking "factory made" vs "car commercial" is interesting, but I think you're missing the part where a lot of us are just doing it for ourselves, you know? Like I spent six months on a helmet with perfect fiberglass seams and nobody at the con even noticed, but I felt amazing wearing it because I knew how clean it was. It's basically the same thing as people who spend $500 on a mechanical keyboard when a $20 one types just fine, it's a different kind of satisfaction.
