Why does nobody talk about sealing EVA foam with heat before plastidip
I built my first Mandalorian helmet last month and the seams looked rough even after 3 coats of plastidip. Then a guy at the prop meetup in Sacramento showed me how he hits the foam with a heat gun for about 30 seconds per section before any paint goes on. The cells basically close up and you get this smooth surface that takes paint way better. I redid my shoulder plates with the heat method and the difference after one coat was honestly crazy compared to my old 3 coat helmet. Now I'm wondering if I should strip the helmet and redo it or just live with it. Does the heat trick work on thicker 10mm foam or just the thin 2mm stuff?
