Just realized my cable clips cost more than my desk legs
I was adding up my whole desk build receipts last night. That cheap butcher block countertop was only $50 from a salvage place in town. The hairpin legs I bolted on were $40. But then I started tallying all the little stuff. Cable clips, velcro straps, those adhesive raceways, a little tray under the desk. It came to $67. More than the actual surface and legs combined. I never thought the small stuff would add up like that. Did anyone else get blindsided by the hidden costs of a clean setup?

I saw a YouTube video where a guy broke down his entire setup cost and the cable management stuff was like 30% of the total. He had those nice braided sleeves and magnetic clips from some boutique brand, ended up being more than his monitor arm. Really makes you stop and think when the little plastic pieces cost more than the wood you're sticking them to.

Right, I spent like $90 on cable management for my setup and then realized my actual desk was a $30 folding table from a garage sale. Makes you wonder if the real cost of a clean setup is just your dignity when you realize you spent more on zip ties than lumber. At this point my cables have a better 401k than I do.
