My monitor arm sag fix took 2 months and a $14 part
I finally got tired of my monitor drooping an inch every few days on my DIY desk. Tried tightening the bolt, adding washers, even a shim cut from a soda can. Turns out the gas spring inside was shot, and a cheap replacement cylinder from a local parts shop in Portland fixed it in 20 minutes. Has anyone else rebuilt a monitor arm instead of just buying a new one?

Skip the drama and just get a new arm if it bugs you that much. A $14 fix is cool and all, but drooping for two months means you were dealing with a annoying setup way too long. Sure, you saved money, but my time's worth more than that.
