Warning: my $15 IKEA cable tray pulled the paint off my desk in one week
I stuck a cheap adhesive cable tray under the back of my desk last month to hide the power strip and charger cords. After 7 days I noticed the tray was sagging, and when I pulled it off it took a strip of finish with it about 4 inches long. I think the weight of the strip plus the heat from my laptop charger softened the glue and made it stick way too hard. I ended up screwing the tray into the desk instead, which is fine since the desk is from Goodwill anyway. Has anyone found an adhesive that actually holds a power strip without wrecking the finish, or should I just go with screws from the start?
