Warning: my $8 LED strip setup looked great for 2 weeks, then the adhesive failed in 90 degree heat

I finally finished cable managing my whole desk last month and mounted some cheap LED strips underneath the back edge to get that glow effect everyone posts. Looked amazing for about 2 weeks, then we hit a hot spell and the 3M tape on the strips just gave up. The whole thing sagged down and one corner dangling behind my monitor kept flickering every time I bumped the desk. I ended up using small zip tie mounts screwed into the underside, cost me $4 for a pack of 20 and they hold way better. The strips themselves are fine, it was purely the mounting tape that was junk. Has anyone else had this happen, or found a better way to mount strips on a metal frame desk without drilling too many holes?

90 degrees isn't even that hot, that tape was just always gonna fail sooner.
