Warning: your monitor arm clamp might be ruining your desk edge

Last week I finally moved my monitor arm from the front edge to the back corner. My oak desk top has a permanent dent line now, plus the clamp was covering my grommet hole the whole time. Took 2 years and a new desk mat to notice the damage. Anyone else flip their clamp position and find hidden scratches under there?
