Why does everyone skip the vertical cable raceway on standing desks?

I've seen like 8 build posts this month where people put a standing desk together and just let the power strip dangle under the frame. A 3 foot vertical raceway from Amazon costs 12 bucks and takes 10 minutes to mount, but nobody does it. My own desk in Portland started having a cable catch on the lifting motor after 2 weeks of moving up and down. Has anyone else had their cords fray or tug when the desk goes from sitting to standing height?
