Cut my thumb swapping joysticks until I found the ziploc bag trick
I was installing some Gulikit Hall Effect joysticks in my DualSense and kept dropping the tiny brass washers into the carpet. After fishing them out twice, I put the whole stick and washer setup inside a gallon ziploc bag before pressing the stick in. No more lost parts and it took like 5 extra seconds. Anyone else got a weird hack for keeping small controller bits from disappearing?

Heard about a guy who used a big magnet tray like the ones mechanics use, said it worked perfect for holding screws and tiny springs while he worked on his controller. Honestly, that static problem you mentioned with the ziploc is real, I tried the bag thing once for a switch joystick and the little brass washer kept zapping onto the plastic. Ended up having to shake the bag like a Polaroid picture to get it off. The magnet tray idea is way cleaner, you just drop the parts on there and they stay put no matter how clumsy you get. Plus you can still work on the controller without fumbling through a bag, which always makes my fingers feel fat and useless.

Honestly, I feel like this is kind of a lot of work for a couple tiny washers. Like yeah it's annoying when you drop them but is it really worth putting your whole controller inside a baggie? I just keep a bowl or a cup nearby and work over that instead. Ngl, the ziploc trick sounds like it makes unscrewing and pressing buttons harder since you have to reach through the bag. And what if the static makes the washer stick to the inside of the bag anyway? Seems like overkill for something that takes 10 seconds to pick up off the carpet.
