Found out arcade stick gates come in 4-way and 8-way and it made me mad at every fighting game I own
I was watching a restore video from a guy in Portland last week and he mentioned the stock gate on a Sanwa JLF is a square 8-way. That means diagonal inputs are physically easier to hit than straight up, down, left, or right. I swapped in a $6 octagonal gate and my dashes in Street Fighter stopped coming out as jumps. Now I want to know why nobody tells you this when you buy your first stick, did you learn it the hard way too?
