Debate: Did spending $400 on a tile wet saw actually pay off?

I dropped $400 on a decent wet saw for retiling my bathroom floor last month. On one hand, it made clean cuts on porcelain tile way easier than my old scoring tool, and I only wasted like 3 tiles out of 50. No more chipped edges or guessing with a grinder. But now that the project is done, the thing is sitting in my garage taking up space. I could have rented one for $60 a day and saved the cash. For a one-time job, does buying nice tools ever make sense, or is renting always the smarter move? Anyone else bought a pricey tool for a single project and regretted or loved it?

That $400 saw is just collecting dust now, a perfect example of why renting is usually smarter for a one-off DIY job. The money you saved on tile waste gets eaten up by the storage hassle and the fact that you'll probably never touch it again. I mean, unless you're planning a whole house reno, that cash could've bought a lot of takeout while you grouted.

Spent $500 on a tile saw myself and now it's just a fancy dust collector.
