Fixed a sticky bathroom drawer with a bar of soap of all things

Last month my wife kept complaining about this one drawer in the vanity that would stick halfway every time she tried to pull it open. I was about to drive to Home Depot to buy new drawer slides which would have cost like 15 bucks plus 40 minutes of my time. But my neighbor Mike who works as a handyman saw me messing with it and told me to try rubbing a bar of soap on the tracks first. I grabbed the closest bar of Ivory soap from the sink and ran it along both sides of the drawer runners. That drawer glides like new now and it's been three weeks without any sticking. Has anyone else tried weird hacks like this instead of just buying new hardware?

Waxed a squeaky hinge with a crayon once, still quiet two years later.

Rub a bar of soap on it and call it fixed. I wonder how many people rip out perfectly good hardware because they never tried the cheap stuff first. Lube before labor I always say.
