My basement window well drain clogged and flooded the floor

Last weekend we got a heavy rain and I came down to find about 2 inches of water in the corner of my basement. Turns out the drain pipe from the window well was totally packed with leaves and dirt from the last few years. I spent 4 hours digging it out with a shop vac and a drain snake. Anyone else have window wells that just collect debris no matter what you do?

Your drain snake probably just pushed the clog deeper actually.

My 15 year old drain snake has never pushed a clog deeper once. You just gotta go slow and pull it back out when you feel resistance, not keep ramming it. Plus most clogs are right near the surface anyway, not deep in the main line. That's like saying a toilet plunger makes things worse if you use it right.
