Spent $120 on a fancy drain snake that snapped on the first clog

Bought a motorized drain auger from Home Depot to clear a kitchen sink clog, and the cable twisted apart inside the pipe after 10 seconds. Had to call a plumber anyway who charged me $180 to fish out the broken pieces - anyone else had cheap tools fail like this?

... yeah those motorized ones are a gamble, next time just rent one from a tool library or a place that does it by the day, way cheaper and they last longer.

Yeah renting is the way to go, those cheap motorized ones always break right when you need them most.
