Switched from drywall anchors to toggle bolts after my shelf crashed at 2am

My big bookcase came off the wall at 2am and scared the crap out of me. Those plastic anchors just gave out after 6 months. Toggle bolts hold way better, I tested one with 50 lbs of weight and it didn't budge. Anybody else had anchors fail on them?

You ever try those plastic anchors in old plaster walls @roses69? That's a nightmare waiting to happen. I used one for a coat rack and it pulled a chunk of wall out with it. Toggle bolts are the way to go, no question.

Wait, isn't it always the little cheap fixes that let us down in the end? Those plastic anchors are fine for a picture frame but anything with real weight and they fail. I've had towel racks and curtain rods come down the same way, always after you trust them the most. Toggle bolts are a pain to install but once they're in, they're in for good.
