Unpopular opinion: floating my basement floor with a $12 bag of self-leveler beat paying a guy $900

Had a 1/2 inch dip in the laundry corner of my basement in Boise and two contractors quoted me $900 and $1100 to pour new concrete. I grabbed a $12 bag of self-leveler and a $9 mixing paddle, and it came out dead flat after two passes with a 4 foot level. Did I get lucky, or is the pro quote just not worth it for small dips like this?
