Update: My neighbor's leaky shed roof taught me about flashing

Helped him patch it last weekend in his backyard. He used a piece of scrap metal bent wrong. Water just ran behind it. I watched a video from This Old House that night. Showed how to fold the metal into a proper step shape. Tried it with a new piece of aluminum. No more drips. Anyone know a good source for pre bent flashing in a pinch?

That step shape from This Old House is a game changer! I keep a small sheet of aluminum and some tin snips in my garage now for quick fixes. The big box stores sell little pre bent pieces but they're never the right size when I need them.

Pre-bent flashing is a total waste of money for a simple shed roof. Learning to bend your own is just a skill you should have, like changing a tire. Those little pre-made pieces from the hardware store are perfect for quick patches and they fit standard joints. Keeping a few common sizes on hand is way smarter than messing around with snips and trying to get a clean bend every single time.
