Visited a friend's new house in Austin and noticed something wild about their kitchen backsplash
They used actual pennies instead of tile, coated in epoxy. It took them like 3 weekends to lay them all out but the copper patina looks amazing. Anyone tried a weird material like that for a backsplash?

Oh jeez I gotta say something here, that's not actually copper patina you're looking at. Real copper turns green over time from oxidation, but those pennies are mostly zinc with just a thin copper coating, so when you epoxy them they stay that reddish-brown color unless they get scratched or damaged. Still looks cool though, I bet the pattern came out real nice with all that effort they put into it.

You said "those pennies are mostly zinc," but actually US pennies from 1982 and later are 97.5% zinc with a thin copper plating, so you're right about the coating but the core is mostly zinc not copper.
