Debate: are late night builds better than morning ones?

I had a week that was either the best or worst depending on how you look at it. Last month I tried building a bookshelf at 2am after my day job. First attempt I messed up the shelf spacing and had to redo everything. Second night I nailed it in 3 hours flat. So which side wins? Late night means no interruptions but your brain is fried. Morning means fresh eyes but you got the whole day ahead to stress. What do you all think - you team midnight oil or sunrise sawdust?

Wait, are you saying you build furniture at 2am with power tools?

Read somewhere that your problem solving peaks about 8 hours after waking, so 2am builds are basically your brain flying blind, which explains your first try @felixw68. But those late night wins hit different when there's nobody around to judge your mistakes.
