How my garage workbench lighting made a huge difference over 2 weeks

I swapped out my single flickering fluorescent tube for a pair of cheap LED shop lights from Home Depot. The first night I noticed I wasn't squinting as much when soldering small wires. After two weeks I realized I hadn't made a single measurement error on my wood cuts. That old light was costing me more in wasted material than the $40 I spent on the LEDs. Has anyone else noticed a big jump in accuracy just from better lighting?

Actually that $40 might be a bit of an overstatement. I got a two pack of those LED shop lights for $30 at Harbor Freight and they work just fine for soldering and general bench work. The color temp is around 5000k which is daylight balanced so it really helps with seeing small details. You might have overpaid a little but the difference is totally worth it no matter what you spent.

Harbor Freight stuff surprises me sometimes. I picked up one of those cheap magnetic LED strips for my toolbox and figured I'd toss it in the trash after a week, but it's still kicking two years later. At 5000k they're plenty bright enough for detailed work, that's for sure. Guess my eyeballs aren't the only thing getting old around here.
