I wired my garage lights with Romex for 12 years, now I use extension cords and a power strip

Back when I started my little electric gig, I ran 14/2 cable through the joists in my garage like a real pro, stapled every 16 inches, nice and neat. Last Tuesday at 11pm I was hanging two LED bars and just ran a 25 foot extension cord from the outlet to a power strip screwed to the ceiling, and it took 10 minutes instead of 3 hours. Am I the only one who got lazy, or did everyone else figure this out way earlier?
