My junk drawer hit 47 random screws and I built a lamp out of pure spite at 1am
So I was cleaning out my junk drawer on a Tuesday around 11pm and decided to actually count all the loose screws rolling around in there. Forty seven. That is not a typo. I have no idea where half of them came from but I couldn't bring myself to toss them so I dumped the whole pile on my workbench and stared at it. Around midnight I got this dumb idea to build a tiny desk lamp using nothing but those mystery screws, a spare socket from a busted garage sale find, and a scrap of oak from a shelf I tore out in March. It took me until almost 3am and the thing leans a little to the left, but it actually works and the shade is an old tomato can I cut with tin snips. My wife walked out at 2:30, looked at it, said nothing, and went back to bed. Now it sits on my bench and I kind of love it more than the store bought lamps in the house. What is the weirdest thing you have ever built just because you had a pile of leftover parts staring at you?
