Rant: my soldering iron tip died 10 minutes into a Game Boy repair at 1am
So there I was at my kitchen table in Portland last Friday around 1am, half way through swapping the power switch on an old Game Boy I got for $30 off a guy on Craigslist. The tip on my iron just quit on me, turned black and stopped taking solder right in the middle of a joint. I dug through my junk drawer and found an old tip I'd saved from a dead iron two moves ago, threw it in, and it actually worked fine. Got the console booting on the first try after that. Anybody else hoard spare tips or is that just me being cheap?
