The guy at Lowe's who saw my midnight deck repair and just handed me a level
I was at Lowe's at 2am buying a single bag of concrete mix for a patio stone that had shifted, and this older guy in a flannel comes up and says 'you're gonna mess that up if you don't check your slope.' He handed me a used 4-foot level from his truck and walked off before I could even say thanks. Has anyone else had a random stranger save their DIY project at the weirdest hour?

Did you check his truck for a secret Level of the Ancients he was passing down? I once had a dude at Home Depot at 1am tell me I was mixing the thinset wrong and then just left a half empty bucket of it for me to use. I still don't know if he was saving me from a tile disaster or just abandoning his own project.
