A guy named Sal at a shop in Cleveland said my grooves were too shallow, and he was dead on
I'd been cutting test lacquers for 2 months and could not figure out why my records skipped on the inner tracks. Sal, who runs a little lathe setup out of his garage in Cleveland, took one look at my chip and said my cutting depth was way too shallow, like 30 percent of where it needed to be. I bumped the depth and the skips vanished on the first pass. Anyone else get their best advice from some random guy in a garage instead of a forum?
