Blew 90 bucks on a used cutting head that was a paperweight
Picked up a 'vintage' cutting head from an estate sale near Tacoma for 90 dollars, figured I was getting a steal. Got it home, wired it up to my Presto, and the stylus just dragged with zero signal coming through a test lacquer. Turns out the coil inside was totally dead and it was sold as-is, no refunds. Anyone else get burned on cheap used gear before and find a reliable way to test a head before handing over cash?
