Talked to a record presser at a label in Chicago last week

Guy told me he preheats his vinyl pellets for 2 hours before pressing. I always just threw them in cold. Tried it on my last batch and the grooves came out way cleaner. Anyone else do this or am I late to the party?

...yeah but I don't know about preheating for two whole hours, that seems like overkill to me. I've been pressing records for a few years now and only let my pellets sit for maybe 20 minutes before I start, and my grooves come out fine. If you're really taking that long you're probably just wasting time and electricity for no real gain.
