Tried heating my blanks in the oven before pressing and got 12 warped discs out of 20
Everyone says warm vinyl flows into the grooves easier so I ran a stack in my kitchen oven at 200 degrees, and 12 came out looking like taco shells. Turns out a heat lamp over the press at about 6 inches is the way to go, so has anyone figured out a cheap heat lamp setup for a manual press?
A heat lamp six inches away is basically doing the same thing as your oven, just slower, and you'll still wreck discs if you walk away for a minute. Plenty of manual press setups run fine with no heat at all, just room temp blanks and a longer dwell time, so chasing a cheap lamp rig might be fixing a problem you don't really have. Try slowing your press cycle down before you spend money on bulbs and clamps.
