Figured out how to fix a cracked planter with $1.25 and a candle
I was at the Dollar Tree last weekend grabbing some cheap flower pots for my porch, and I dropped one on the concrete. Cracked right down the side, about 4 inches long. I was annoyed but figured I'd try something I saw on a gardening forum. I bought a pack of plain white tea lights for a buck and a quarter, melted the wax in a beat up pan I don't cook with, and brushed it into the crack from both sides. Let it cool for like 20 minutes and the pot held water perfectly. It's not pretty but it works for a nursery pot inside a nicer one. Has anyone else tried using candle wax for sealing up cheap pottery?

Read somewhere that crayons work for color matching too.

Oh man, I tried that once and ended up with more crayon wax on my face than actually matching anything. My spouse still brings it up at family dinners, like it was some kind of crime.
