Serious question, is hot glue really the best option for dollar store crafts?

I used to swear by hot glue for everything until a commenter on my last post pointed out it gets brittle in heat and my wreath literally fell apart after 3 days in the sun. Switched to E6000 from the dollar store and that thing held up through a whole summer on my front door in Texas. Has anyone else found a better adhesive for outdoor projects that you can actually get at Dollar Tree?

Wait, are you using the mini glue guns or the full size ones? I've had way better luck with just using plain old super glue for stuff like that.
