The $2 candle holder that almost cost me a finger

Last Saturday I tried to hot glue a glass votive to a picture frame for that fancy look and the whole thing SHATTERED in my hand. I was bleeding over a dollar store project and my wife just laughed and said maybe stick to stuff that doesnt involve glass. I spent 20 minutes cleaning up shards from the kitchen floor and threw away two good sponges because I couldnt see the tiny pieces. The kicker is the frame was fine, I just needed a different adhesive for the glass. I ended up using a $1 tube of clear silicone and it held perfectly the next day. Has anyone else had a dollar store project go sideways in a painful way or is it just me? What do you use to bond glass to wood without a trip to urgent care?

Every craft fails teach you something, but usually not in a way that draws blood. It's funny how we always blame the materials when half the time it's just us not matching the right stuff for the job. Silicone works for glass to wood because it flexes a little, hot glue is too brittle and grabs unevenly. That's the real pattern I see, people grab whatever adhesive is closest instead of thinking about what they're actually sticking together. Dollar store projects are basically a test of your patience and your first aid kit. Glad the frame survived, that's the real win.
