Got kicked off a job site in Reno for using colored pencils on a set of shop drawings
Was doing as-builts for a mechanical room at a hospital in Reno. Inspector walked up and told me my redlines were too messy. Said I had to redo the whole set in pen. I argued that pencil erases when the field changes but he didn't care. Lost two days redoing sheets that were already fine. Now I keep a set of fine tip pens in my bag but I still think he was wrong. Is this normal at your sites or was this guy just having a bad day?
Wait, the inspector actually made you redo sheets that were already fine? That's two full days of work gone over pencils vs pens! I work in construction too and pencil is honestly the smart way to go for as-builts because stuff changes in the field all the time. Pens make sense for final drawings but making you redo the whole set sounds like he was just flexing his power. I've never heard of anyone getting kicked off a site for colored pencils, that seems way over the top.
